These towels are named for Yeshiwa, the fringing supervisor who ensures that each knot and tassel is of the highest quality for the beautiful goods in our Ethiopian Textile Collection. She oversees and supports a team of women who carefully create the meticulous details by separating the threads and twisting them into a type of braid and knotting the end.
As members of the World Fair Trade Organization, the predominantly women-led weaving and sewing collective supports and trains their artisans to apply their ancient skills to modern, fresh designs. Serving as a bridge between the artisan and the global market, they provide safe, reliable income for women and their families.
