When we can't travel to spice markets around the globe, we source our seasonings hyper-locally (down the street!) from woman-owned and operated (plus Andrew!), mission driven Curio Spice Co. Claire Cheney founded Curio in 2015 in her apartment in Somerville, MA. As Curio’s blender-in-chief she creates original blends for Curio's Signature line inspired by her travels to spice origins, and also studies time-honored blends for their Classic line.
We can not wait to reveal our limited edition Modern Joy + Curio Gift Box later this season! In the meantime, we are pleased to stock some Indian and African pantry staples.
Whole, organic coriander seeds sourced from Egypt. Citrusy and fragrant, great for toasting or using as is. Widely used in South Indian and Moroccan dishes.
Warm, earthy, and soothing. An essential spice for Mexican, Indian, and Middle Eastern cooking. Sourced from Egypt, toasted and ground in Curio's kitchen.
Turmeric: Curio receives this organic Turmeric from a small co-op in Sri Lanka and grinds it in-house in super small batches to maintain freshness. It is intensely aromatic and earthy. This is how turmeric should smell! You'll never go back to supermarket turmeric.
Comfort Curry: Inspired by South Indian style curries, this deeply aromatic yellow curry spice is blended from turmeric along with mace, nigella and white pepper. A mild curry, you can easily add cayenne to ramp up the heat. Great for classic curried chickpeas, daal, potatoes, or try in egg salad.
