The generously proportioned Genet Handwoven Silk Shawls are woven from hand spun wild Ethiopian silk. The designs, called tibeb, are found on many Ethiopian textiles. While the motif itself is quite traditional, the clean colors and execution are stunningly modern.

This is special because...
This scarf takes its name from Genet, one of fringers who make and knot the fringes for the beautiful goods in our Ethiopian Textile Collection. Each fringe is carefully created by separating the threads and twisting them into a type of braid and then knotted at the end.
As members of the World Fair Trade Organization, the predominantly women-led weaving and sewing collective supports and trains their artisans to apply their ancient skills to modern, fresh designs.
